The 60-Day Rule
The 60 days run from receipt of a properly executed application. An application with missing signatures, unreadable fingerprints, or an unresolved premises issue is not properly executed, so returning it restarts your real-world timeline.
What Adds Time
Nearly every long approval traces back to one of these.
- Rejected fingerprint cards
- Missing responsible persons or missing photos
- Zoning or home-occupation approval not yet in place
- Premises address that does not match business records
- Slow scheduling of the in-person interview
How To Move Faster
Resolve local approvals before filing, submit professional-quality prints, keep your entity records and premises address consistent, and be ready for the interview the week you file.
Fees, forms and processing rules change through ATF rulemaking. Confirm current requirements with ATF and your state and local authorities before you file.
